Why Go? Here's Why!
- There are over 6800 languages in the world
- Over 3,000 do not have the Bible in their language
- Approximately 380 million people are still waiting to receive God's Word in their language
- 85% of the world's poorest countries lie within the unevangelized world.
- There at least 5,000 unreached people groups (defined linguistically). "Unreached" means that they do not have a nationally led, viable, reproducing church. (Each of these groups is 10,000 or more in size, so there are several hundred more unreached smaller groups, perhaps bringing the real total to 2,000.)
- 3.1 billion people and 95% of unreached groups are located in an area of the world called the 10/40 Window -- from West Africa to China.
- Of those in the 10/40 window, 2/3 of them--two billion people--have never heard of Jesus, at least not as Savior.
- 95% of missions money and resources in the western world go to areas of the world where there is already an established or emerging church and 5% goes to areas where there is no church.
- 90% of the full time Christian workers in the world live in countries that constitute 10% of the world's population.
- It is estimated that 120 million people are presented with the Gospel for the first time each year.
- In the 10/40 Window (the least evangelized part of the world) there are 34 Muslim countries, 7 Buddhist nations, 3 Marxist nations, and 2 Hindu countries.
- Christians are sending only 1.2% of their mission funding and their foreign missionaries to the 1.1 billion people who live in the unevangelized world.
Why Go? IF NO ONE GOES, 1.1 BILLION MAY NEVER HEAR THE GOSPEL. -all statistics are estimates; some statistics from InterDev, World Relief, MARC, Unicef, and Action International
